HTC One VX vs. Galaxy Note II
The HTC One VX and the Galaxy Note II, also referred to as the Samsung SGH-1317, are two of the most talked about smartphones in 2012. Most Android lovers have been left spoilt for choice by the countless features that these top manufacturers have stacked in their gadgets. If you have been searching for a top Android powered smartphone, keeping up with the fast changing market has become impossible. You can hardly get it wrong with any of these two smartphones. However, if you must choose between one of them then this HTC One VX vs. Galaxy Note II guide will be of great help.
- Design
First impressions are always at play when shopping for a smartphone, an avenue both phones excel in. The Galaxy Note II completes its irresistible design with a stylus that offers quicker access to features. The HTC One VX comes with a more portable design with dimensions of 5.26 x 2.66 x 0.36 inches and a paltry 125 g in weight. However, the Note still remains one of the slimmest smartphones that will comfortably slide into your shirt pocket.
- Operating System
When buying a smartphone or any other handheld communication device, the operating system is always an important consideration. However, these two phones are almost inseparable in this regard. HTC has packed Android 4.0 Sense 4+ UI with its One VX. Samsung take things a notch higher with the latest Android 4.1 OS that will offer slightly better functionality and access to all Android apps.
- Display
Displays hardly get any better than the Super AMOLED and S-LCD 2 screens that ship with the Samsung Galaxy Note II and the HTC One VX. However, this is one of the avenues where Samsung chose to stamp their technological authority. The Note II boasts a 5.55 inch capacitive, multi-touch display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. On the other hand, the VX has a 4.5 inch scratch-resistant, capacitive, multi-touch display with a 540 x 960 pixel resolution. It is worth noting that both displays have light and proximity sensors.
- Hardware
The 1600 MHz, ARM Cortex-A9 processor that comes with the Samsung Galaxy Note II hardly has a match in the market. However, the Dual Core, 1500 MHz Krait processor found on the VX is not far off in terms of performance. While Samsung packed a 2048 MB RAM with their gadget, HTC could only manage a 1024 MB RAM on theirs. With 16 GB of internal storage, which is double what HTC has to offer, the Note definitely gets the nod in terms of hardware.
- Camera and Battery Life
If you are an avid photographer, comparing the two cameras on these phones is mandatory. The Note gets a slight edge with its 8 megapixel camera compared to the 5 megapixel one on the VX. Samsung also included a 1.9 mp front-facing camera for video calls while the HTV One VX offers a 0.3 mp camera for the same. For longer shooting and video recording, the Note offers a 3100 mAh Li-Ion which lasts longer than the 1810 mAh Li-Polymer battery. With such features and much more to offer, it is clear that HTC still has some catching up to do.
