There is a new Netflix UI for the streaming service’s Android tablet application. In the press release announcing the new interface, the company also promised that a new UI for the iPad scheduled to follow soon thereafter.

In the press release announcing the new user interface, Netflix claims that, “The redesigned Netflix experience is much more immersive and provides more focus on the growing Netflix catalog by displaying twice as many titles than the previous interface. As a result, it is now much easier to discover and instantly watch movies and TV shows on Android tablets.”

Tablets are excellent for watching movies, either while traveling, on a bus, or in bed. The big, beautiful displays are able to render detail that you simply don’t receive while squinting at a 4.3” LCD, making the mini-theatrical experience that much better.

This has made it even stranger that Netflix has not been quick to offer support for Honeycomb-powered Android tablets, but now that issue has finally rectified. Android tablet fans, it is time to head to the Market, because the Netflix App has officially updated. This is no piecemeal roll out, either. The update makes the app compatible with all Honeycomb devices.

Netflix has just received a significant upgrade to volume functions and Facebook sharing capabilities on its Android app. With the Netflix 1.7 upgrade, users will see various changes to the interface. The volume control on tablets are now on-screen instead of off-screen hardware controlled volume. This change will let users have the capability to easily access to volume control on screen. Along with the volume control upgrade, Netflix has also integrated Facebook sharing on Android phones and tablets.

The Facebook sharing function will only be available to members within Latin America, the UK, Ireland and Canada. Various bug fixes also implemented with the upgrade. Audio and video synchronizing on Android phones and tablets improved. The flickering and split screen issues that many users incurred also fixed.

Many of the issues that users have been experiencing on the Netflix App will no longer be evident. However, there is no word yet regarding HD streaming for Android phones and tablets.

With the netflix app for android, you can watch TV shows and movies on your smartphone, streaming from Netflix. This movie app can only used if you have a Netflix membership, but if you do, the netflix app is free.

One of the cool things of this app is that you can resume watching where you left off on your TV or computer. So imagine this scenario, you are watching a show and it is only 10 minutes until the end, but you have to catch the bus – which is at the corner of your street – in 5. Normally you would miss the bus (of course) but now you can catch the bus and continue watching the show on your way to work! Well, maybe we were carried away there, but heh, it’s a really cool feature!

You can also browse movies and shows, looking for new stuff to watch. The Netflix app supports most phones, but not all of them. On the official page, you can find out which android smartphones supported.
